Don Lapre is better known as a king of infomercials. He is known for his persuasive and motivating techniques in his commercials and had dominated the small screen for long duration. However, the marketing idea that was promoted by him has grown stale and they are no more applicable in the market of 2005. It was in 80s and early 90s that his ideas were widely accepted. He has helped many in accumulating wealth but if you try to apply same techniques in today’s market then they will not reap in same benefits.
There are some worthwhile tips for marketing in Don Lapre’s book. However, these tips are not enough to charge such a high amount. He now needs to give some innovative styles of marketing One of his popular techniques was to put small classified ads in different newspapers, reminder services, 900 numbers, government auctions, etc. However, the idea was able to rake in money during 80’s and 90’s only and it is no more fruitful for today’s market. As information, he has only given the names of 300 newspapers in his course to where you could get your classified ads pasted.
It is difficult to make people buy your products after reading few lines from newspaper. To sell your product through an ad you need to give all details like why a customer should buy the product, details of product, how much will it cost if buying through classified. However, it is difficult to do unless you get the service free or get them to visit a website from where you could sale your products.
After Don Lapre’s classified ads, 900 numbers, reminder service, he has come up with "The Greatest Vitamin in the World." However, in 1999, Don Lapre had to file bankruptcy and a third-party ended in buying his infomercials and info products.
Therefore, Don Lapre has been more successful in making fortune to him than to those who have bought his course.
