OnlyCritiques.com Review:
Software companies worldwide release new and latest versions of their products to provide the customers with innovative technology. The new versions of software are most of the time superior to the previous versions and contain features that make them more user-friendly.
To make the new versions bug free and ensure the product is of highest quality, the software companies test it rigorously. However, software cannot be absolutely error free. After all, the system or programs, which are used to test the software are also made by humans beings and they are bound to make some mistakes.
We can also define software testing as a process of investigation targeted at evaluating the software for its effectiveness and competency.
By testing, software companies try to provide reliability, stability, portability, maintainability and usability of their products. However, a lot depends on the system on which the software is installed. Different software give different outputs on different systems.
Software testing comprises of three stages:alpha testing, beta testing, and gamma testing.
Alpha testing is a process in which the software companies always test their products before making them available for common man. The software developers themselves test the software by using a debugger program or with the help of a hardware-assisted debugger to catch errors and bugs.
Beta testing is a process in which limited public tests (beta-versions) are released to groups of people to find out if the product has any bug or error.
Gamma testing is a term used by cynics to refer to all defective software releases. According to them, all the software contain some errors and bugs and are not absolutely bug free.
Although beta testing or testing by public is without any compensation or any charges but in recent times, we have found that a new kind of scam has surfaced in beta testing field. This is known as paid beta testing. In this scam, the scamster e-mails to a large section of people informing them that Microsoft or Intel is in search of people like them to beta test their new products and they will be paid for it.
This is false information since these reputable companies do not have to pay anything to anybody to test their products. On the contrary, people are more than happy to test their new products, which have not yet been released in the market.
