OnlyCritiques.com Review:

The business of domain registration is legal but is considered an unethical activity. It all depends on the ignorance of the recipient of the letter whom the domain registration company sends. A typical warning letter sent by a domain registration company, other than whom your domain name is registered with, will state that the domain name is about to expire. The letter will also include that the service provider will give no further warning.

Most Domain Registration companies accept payment through credit cards for domain registration. According to the terms and conditions, they continue to renew the domain name registration by charging your credit card. If you want to discontinue the arrangement, you will have to opt out. But as hard as you may try, you will not be able to find the opt-out option on their website.

Words of Caution

If you do receive any such letter from a domain registration company other than the company you are registered with, ignore it. You may even forward it to your present domain registration company to take up the issue with their competitor for using unethical means to grab customers.

Usually these companies charge a higher fee than you have been paying earlier. You would end up accusing the hosting company for extorting money from you. These unethical practices deprive the original domain registration companies of their legitimate business.

These letters are designed to look like invoices, though they are not. A line mentioning that it is not an invoice is placed at the back of the letter in fine print. If you respond to it and send the money, worried that your domain name may be de-registered, the company stands to benefit from your business obtained unethically.

The whole business of domain registration is taking an ugly turn, which needs to be reined in by the concerned authorities.
