OnlyCritiques.com Review:
In this busy lifestyle, everyone wants to buy everything from the comforts of their homes and offices without worrying about visiting the market.
That is why online auction sites have gained immense popularity in recent times. You can sell and purchase products on auction sites. However, these sites are not safe for buyers as well as sellers.
Auction sites related frauds represent 71% of the total fraud cases. In fact, out of total online fraud reports to FTC, auction frauds have a representation of 48%. That is close to 500 reports per week. The sellers do not only commit the fraud cases. Sometimes, buyers are also scamsters.
First, we will discuss about fraud cases involving sellers. It may happen that after winning the bid the buyer does not get the item or gets the item, which is not the one advertised on the auction site.
Sometimes, the item received is far less than the actual value advertised on the site. Sometime, the seller takes the money and runs away without delivering the item. Very often, the buyer receives an artificial gems or jewelry, pirated music or software, counterfeit art, and forded antique pieces.
The seller also sells stolen goods on auction sites. Occasionally, the seller adds shipping cost to the item after its sale.
Sometimes, the seller, a possible scamster uses shell auctions to get money or credit card numbers from innocent buyers.
Now, we will discuss the auction frauds done by buyers. The fraudulent buyers use bounced checks, stolen credit cards and many other ways to purchase the goods leaving the merchant with nothing in return.
Sometimes, the buyer gets the item and returns a similar item, which is broken or has been used claiming that it was not what he ordered. In this case, the seller is left with damaged or used item.
It is true that the number of fraud cases involving auction sites is on the rise but we can take some precautionary measures to check this menace.
First, if you are a new buyer on the auction site then always confirm the market price of the item, which you are deciding to purchase through auction. Then read the feedbacks about seller and his auction history before placing a bid. If you find a large percentage of positive feedback and good auction history then you can place your bid. If you find Western Union or similar payment option then ignore that seller.
Bid for only those items, which have clear pictures taken from different angles and fully describe the condition of the item. In case of unclear pictures, you are advised to check the guarantee and the seller's feedback ratings.
By following these small measures, you can save yourself from falling in the net of scamsters on auction sites.
