OnlyCritiques.com Review:
Psycho-Cybernetics is a self-improvement book, which comprises a series of subliminal tapes that help reprogram the human mind for success. Dr. Maxwell Maltz is the well-renowned author of this book, which is still considered a major landmark in improvement techniques. Unfortunately, due to its subliminal message basis, the book and the tapes have also been widely discredited since no scientific theory has been able to prove their effectiveness.
The book was authored in the mid-twentieth century and has a copyright that dates from 1960. Since, then the book is said to have sold more than 30 million copies. If so many people have read the book, it is obviously attractive but unfortunately, there are not an equal number of testimonials, which can prove its success. If a book read by more than 30-million people can only gather about twelve odd testimonials, you can smell a rat in the whole scene.
Another negative aspect of Psycho-Cybernetics is that it is rather dated. The world has moved forward since 1960 and some of the language it uses in its subliminal messaging seem rather at odds with our reality and our common speech. Despite this, the book is still popular and is recommended by many. Self-improvement gurus like Zig Zagler, Tony Robbins, and Brian Tracy have all picked up some of their ideas from Psycho-Cybernetics.
For a book that is called Psycho-Cybernetics, one would expect that the author would have been a leading psychoanalyst of his time. Dr. Maltz is a cosmetic surgeon. His whole inspiration for the book came when he saw that patients who had been through effective and often extensive plastic surgery were still not happy with their physical appearance. This made him delve into the human mind and the result was a book that helps you train your mind.
His method of “emotional surgery” is commendable, especially since it is often used in these days but the tapes still seem rather formidable and you are likely to wonder if they will help at all.
