However, this was against the provisions of Federal Trade Commission Act and results of such sale were against public interest. Products sold had names like Maritime Prime, Ultra Prime, Maritime Plus, Super Maritime Prime. A settlement between Federal Trade Commission and J & R Research, Inc declares that the company will not issue any such claims in future without the backing of reliable and solid scientific evidence. It also restrains J & R Research Company from further misrepresentations and endorsing any product, which is in use by the ordinary public. Representations of products could only be according to provisions of Federal Trade Commission. Besides, the commission has also issued a notice alerting parents to consult medical practitioners and pediatricians before giving any dietary supplements to children.
