The most important part of an advertisement or sales promotion for a website is the Call to Action to the consumer. This is framed in such a way that the customer is prompted to take some action like visiting the website or calling a toll-free number.

The Call to Action must have some words that create an urgent need for action from the customer. The call for action must be clearly spelled out and must clearly tell the customer what is to be done. It must compel him to call immediately to satisfy his queries. The reaction time is faster if the number is toll-free. However, this can result in many uninterested callers simply soliciting information with no intention of purchasing anything from the site.

It is a better idea to give a number where the customer has to pay for the call. This will ensure only serious customers call and these callers can be converted into sales. The person who calls is then exposed to a recorded message about the business. Alternately, one can have an interactive voice response system that is more specific to the needs of the end user.

Therefore, it is important to make a promise of a discount or a warranty in the Call to Action. Moreover, the Call to Action must be short, clear and in simple language so that the clients have no problems in understanding the message.

A Call to Action must therefore give the client clear directives about what to do in return for some assistance. It should entice them with promises of some gifts if they react immediately at that instant. Customers will react only if they gain something from the website. Hence, it is important to frame the Call to Action innovatively since it demonstrates the success of one’s sales promotion message.
