OnlyCritiques.com Review:

Brian Williams is the managing editor and anchor of NBC Nightly News, the most popular news program in the United States. Brian Williams took over this post from Tom Brokaw on December 2, 2004. Brian Williams was previously network's chief correspondent at the White House and later anchor of The News with Brian Williams on CNBC and MSNBC cable networks.

Brian Williams graduated from Mater Dei and attended George Washington University, although he left college without a degree. Brian Williams started his career in broadcasting at KOAM-TV in Pittsburg, Kansas. Some time later, Brian joined WCBS-TV in New York. Brian received great applause for his coverage of the stock market collapse. He also won his first Emmy for this coverage.

Although initially many felt Brian to be a snob, he won many hearts with his live and excellent coverage of his hourly newscast- The News with Brian Williams. Many television critics and national publications applaud Brian for his journalistic style of delivery of news items. Besides, audience for such late night telecast includes many of the highly placed people of the country.

Brian’s takeover from Tom Brokaw was the first such announced change in a major news network in more than two decades. Brian has an experience of reporting from more than twenty overseas countries on topics of both national and international importance. USA Today awarded Brian the title of Best Anchor.

Brian also has the credit of covering death of Princess Diana, live coverage following the crash of TWA Flight 800 and death of John F. Kennedy, Arafat-Rabin Mideast peace agreement from Jericho and Jerusalem, historic election of Nelson Mandela in South Africa, and similar other landmarks in news coverage. Brian was GQ’s Man of the Year in 2001.

Brian Williams is very popular with his colleagues off air too. He has a penchant for practical jokes and various one-liners. Rather, his friends and colleagues love to have him around. However, Brian’s delivery on the program is at times a bit too formal. Nevertheless, his coverage and other associated journalistic features outdo any shortcomings, if at all.
