Departure Central Inc. (DCI) is a travel company specializing in supplier travel. The high-tech DCI Booking Engine allows you to reserve air tickets, cars, cruises and hotel accommodation online. The company claims to have worldwide access to more than 785 airline carriers, 51,976 hotel properties, 43 car rental companies, 11 cruise lines and several resorts and condominiums.

You can become a DCI Basic Member and operate as an independent travel agent. You do not need to pay a fee to join. All members are entitled to their individual travel-booking engine and can make commissions. As your acquaintances and prospective customers, hit your personal site and order tickets or accommodation, you get a commission.

Another membership scheme is the Premiere Members. A Premiere Member can earn commission besides an income on the complete transaction from travel to accommodation via the online booking. Commissions vary as per the performance achieved at different schemes. Travel commissions are diverse in nature and worth and can range from a stay at a Condo Resort to Cruises.

An obvious result of increase in membership is the increase in tour and travel bookings. This translates into more business and then into more revenues for members.

There are reports circulating of these schemes being fraudulent. People say that there has been no official launch of the company and this is communicated only to get people to sell memberships. The organization also undertakes promotions and yet do not they transact with credit cards. Another opinion is that Departure Central also counts as a pyramid scam. They continue to use the infamous "Airplane" pyramid scheme.

However, a press report released in December 2005 highlighted the fact that management of Departure Central is working in the resolution of these issues and will shortly resume communication. After someone posted messages on their website giving information of cancelled checks and about how people could reclaim their money, their homepage started functioning. None of the other pages on the website is operational.
