Blogs are increasingly becoming the voice of the global youth. Blogs have revolutionized the way the world writes. Blogs let a person reveal, express and communicate his thoughts, beliefs, and opinions on any subject under the sun and that without necessarily identifying himself.

The Internet defines a “blog” as frequent and regular expression of individual opinions and views on the web. Another name for it is “web logs”. However, web logs are misunderstood as “web log” (A server’s log files), so blog is a more common term.

There is a certain ambiguity to the year of origin of writing blogs. In the early 1990s, online diaries were in vogue. Therefore, some people argue that blogs originated in the 90s while some say in 2001.

Writing blogs is a universal phenomenon, which is multiplying at the rate of thousands per week. Almost 4 million blogs were started in in 2003. A classic example is Howard Dean’s site- blogforamerica.com, which revolved on the ensuing presidential elections.

Blogs and RSS (Real simple syndication) initiate a healthy function of getting people involved in issues and get them to debate on them. An aware and vocal society is necessary for a democracy to flourish.

The major advantage of blogs is that they are live and conversational. On the other hand, people do get excited and instead of keeping the discussion on a logical plane may end up arguing.

Blogs, otherwise give you the scope and the chance to hear and be heard, to read and be read. There is a certain amount of fame associated as well. New and old associations are forged and you can network with so many like-minded people.

Blogs is still in its infancy but accepted as the “new age global” language. This is just another tribute to technology. This would not have been possible without the technological advances that we make. Today, just at the press of a button we have a multitude of tools to assist us.
